  • What does it take to beat mustangs?

I have a 96 Camaro 3800 V6 and I was wondering what it would take to beat these punks giving me a hard time in their 4.6L Mustang GTs. I would love to see their faces when I smoke them with a V6. I'm new to the v6 cars, although I know some of the basic LS1 modding concepts apply to the v6 also. What bolt-ons will I need to give them a run?

You don't need a whole lot. Do all the free mods and make sure you have some sort of exhaust system, intake, and short throw shifter maybe and it should make it close. It also depends on what numbers your particular camaro is putting out in the 1/4. Some people here run high 14's almost stock with would give any 4.6L a run for their money or a loss. Goodluck.

Stock 4.6 mustangs run 14.2 in the 1/4 mile, Stock v6 f-bodies run 15.2-15.4.. Gears would be my first step... 3.73's, Whisper lid, Cat back, and a stall you should be right with a stock 5 speed GT..

well when we're talking quarter mile times, im talking about the track. on the street anything goes...you miss a gear, oh well. same at the track, except you have a timeslip to prove the margin of victory.

98silverbird. I noticed in your sig that you have an aluminum driveshaft that isn't installed yet. Why not?

Why are you concerned with hooking up a V6 when you have a SS? To me, I would take that time and money and throw it into the SS.
