i just bought new rims for my camaro. chrome 17's with 275/40 in the back and 235/55 up front. the place i bought them at said they balanced them but my car shakes real bad at about 40-50 mph. so i took it to a shop up the street and the guy told me that with aftermarket rims like mine you cant add weights to it and im gonna have to live with the bad vibration. is there any thing i can do to fix this? there has to be a way, everyone with after market rims cant possibly have the same problem.

i thought that place was full of it, maybe he didnt feel like doing it. i thought to myself"everyone that has a f-body with aftermarket wheels cant possibly have this problem" he also said to take it back to the place i got the rims and they would put some kinda beads on the inside but it would be real expensive.

so what everyone is telling me is that it definety can be fixed, with putting the weights on the inside of the rims right? its driving me nutz! my car shakes so bad when i hit 50. does anyone know if it would cost more than just regular balancing, or is it all the same? 10.99 per wheel.

They should be able to put the clip-on type weights on the inside lip of the wheel. No it doesn't cost any more. Some wheels don't have the ridge on the front. I always tell them to put the weights on the back anyway 'cause they're ugly.
Even if you couldn't use clip-on weights they could put stick-on weights around the inside.
