So i just got my bird up and running again. Here is what happened. I drive on RT 66 for maybe 10-12 miles, and don't use my brakes for the duration of those 10 minutes. I get to my exit, and begin to brake and the pedal travels 3/4 of its full range of motion before i get any noticeable decrease in speed. The pedal feels spongy too. I think its air in the brake lines... do i need to bleed my brakes?

Just try that. It wont hurt. Then if that doesnt work, then try replacing or rebuilding your master cylinder. Good luck. ;)
Have you done any alteration/change to your stock brake system? Try putting new brake fluid after you bleed out the old one.

Whats your fluid look like? Mine is slightly similar but not as bad but my fluid is toast.
