Putting together a remote bottle opener

Well I have a heavy duty solenoid thats from a another kids ZEX nitrous kit, is there a way to test and make sure it works. If I wired it up and turn it on, I should hear the solenoid click right? So if it works all i have to do is wire it up and mount it on the bottle? Just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything, I hope this works out, I like the idea of a free bottle opener.

I don't have one and I've only seen pics of them on the net.
I'm still waiting for shirl to show me hers.
Then I would at least have a bit more info

Technically if you hook up power to the power wire and ground it out you should here something right?
Although I don't ever play with electrical stuff
