smooth front bumper

what do you guys think about smoothing the front license plate cover? i have to replace the front bumper and i was thinking about have the groove around the cover smoothed out but leaving the bird. i have seen some cars with this done and i like it. it's a really subtle change, but since i have to have it painted, why not? what do you guys think?
