  • Plastic Fuel Tank

    Hello everyone,
I'll be under the car for a couple of weekends and thought to maybe drop the fuel tank and put in a new fuel pump while I was re-doing the exhaust and installing sub-frame connectors. I was wondering if the later model plastic fuel tanks would fit my 96 Camaro. Are there any modifications required to make it fit?

    Thanks.

Just my opinion here but if the pump is working fine leave it alone.

There is FI in the works and I'll want to upgrade the fuel pump eventually. Thought I'd get it all done at the same time.

Its a direct bolt in and it won't rust;)

In that case then yes, you may as well upgrade the pump while you have things apart.

My concern was longevity, not weight reduction.

What year did they introduce the plastic tank? I have a small leak to find and if its not the evap cannister or a hose I may need a tank and the no rust option sounds much better to me.
