  • Started working on the installing the eclipse fuel door*pics*Updated Finished!

well i started installing it today. looks good. wasnt hard to install, just basic hand tools and a dremel. the is the stock fuel door from and eclips, not the aluminum one. i drilled holes on the outside to hold it on. i had to do a decent bit of cutting to make it fit. i had to cut the inside so the cap and filler neck thing would fit. then i sanded it down and painted it black and put some metallic in it so make it stand out just a little. now im just waiting for it to cure so i can wet sand it down and buff it.

maybe its just me, but why would you want your fuel door to stand out?

because its different....lookin good, sucks that you had to cut so much though, and drill holes in your brand new door. But its comin along nice, Im surprised you didnt go with the aluminum one better do a write up, couple people have been wantin to do it lately.

i want it to stand out becuase i put alot of work into it, so i want people to notice and it makes my car different from almost everyone elses.

i dont want to make it stand out to much and look out of place though.

thanx. i got the idea from you actually. been thinking about doing it for awhile but did want to fork over 70 bucks for the aluminum one. so ive been checkin ebay every once and awhile. i saw this one for 8 bucks with 50 minutes left. won it, got it for 16 bucks shipped. thats why iwasnt worried about cut it and stuff. it wasnt bad at all drilling the holes in the door becuase if you look theres dimples in it already. so i drilled every other one(6 out of 11).

i prob will do a write up as i know it has been going around alot. totally cost was like 35 bucks with paint. i used to work at a custom bike shop so i like painting stuff and doing my own little touch on things.
          fuel door $16
          primer $4
          black $5
          metallic paint $6
          clear $4

i got the screws out of and old speaker box from walmart lol. they look perfect with it though.

yeah, like hows its flush-mounted. i hate the little lip on the stock covers....ruins the whole sleekness of that part of the car. actually got me thinkin bout doin it too, but painting it the same as my car color. might be my next appearance mod....

the stocker just doesnt have that appeal that i think they should have. i knew theres was going to be some people who thought it wouldnt look good and then be like wow maybe its not that bad.

thats why i took my time to think this one out. if it matches the body color i think it looks good. the only thing that i maybe wouldnt match with be the screws. like on a red car i would go with black screws. on a blue car i would go with silver. nice suttle touch.

i like how with the metallic you can only see it in the right light. its ghosty.

im going to do a write up whenever i get a chance.

BTW i just noticed you didnt do the headlight mod,its looks great on dark color cars. heres a link ( sorry if you have to copy/paste )
