ok im wanting to turbo my car this summer and iw as wondering if it would be safe to just run about 6 psi on the turbo until i can get a FMU and learn how to work it exactly.....would my car be able to hadle that with a stock tune and should that throw me into high 14's low 15's?
what do most of u guys do about ur exhaust manifold pictures if u can and also what size turbo do u guys run?
u do not want to run more than 3.5 psi without bigger injectors or fmu. also u would need a inline or intank fuel pump as well. the turbo size is usually a
t3/t4 60mm or 62-1 or mp70.also u would need to know the flange size of the exhaust so it mates to the exhaust side of the turbo. u can run up to 7 psi very safety with fmu, stock injectors, no tune, and with a inline or 255 intank fuel pump. any more question u need ill be gladly to answer
depends on ur gears now and what ur car runs.. if u car is a low 16 sec 3.4 with 7 psi u should be able to high very low 15's high 14's all day. 3.42 rear end gears are the best if u have a auto for a turbo for our cars.
that exhaust manifold is either a foward flowing headers or a under the k member type y pipe.. basically it attaches to either pacesetter or stock exhaust manifold comes along one side of the motor and end's up in the mid of the front motor. also as for the turbo u need to decide if u want a external wastegate or internal wastegate. the turbo for the external wastegate will have a part on the y pipe to controller the boost pressure. the internal wastegate the setting is actually on the turbo built into one's i believe the orignal fff under the k kit came with a internally wastegate'd t3/t4.
Just for some comparison my 3.4 ran a 16.48@84.79 without a turbo.
~15.5 when I had a Toyota Supra MKIII CT-26 turbo(undersized for the 3.4) running ~7psi, FMU, and 24#/hr injectors.
And a 14.27@98.8 with my current TO4E-60 T4/T3 turbo running 10psi, 30"x6"x3" intercooler, 36#/hr injectors, no FMU but with tuning, and a 255lph intank pump.
I ran that CT-26 without a FMU for a little while and just 24#/hr injectors and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and it ran really rough with ~5psi. The FMU really cleaned it up, and the tunning cleaned it up even more!
This is all on my stock 3.4 which now has 231,000 miles.

wait what tuning did you use on this??
also im thinking a internal wastegate and def. not forward sweeping headers seem how i have no one to help fabricate them up. id like to later on run about 10 psi but right away prolly round 6
the best gear ratio is prob 3.42's maybe 3.23's. 3.73's arent too bad but u wont be as good as some one who has what i listed above. i have never used megasquirt so i couldnt tell ya. if u get a bigger fuel pump whether it be a intank or inline fuel pump and hook to up to a fmu u will should able to run 7 psi safety if u would like to run 10 u would have to get bigger injectors and use mega squirt to tune them for the extra fuel. but with stock injectors a bigger fuel pump and fmu is a must. a couple people have run more than 7 psi n a intank or inline and fmu but if u dont have anything to monitor afr and ur fuel pressure and knock retard it isnt advised u do so.
i do have my kit for sale in the 4 sale section btw. it could be customized to fit your application!
It allows you to tune the engine for anything you want to do with it, fuel and spark.
6psi should work ok with a FMU, larger injectors, and possibly the stock fuel pump. It would be best to get a fuel pressure gauge that you can monitor while you're driving the car. I was using the stock fuel pump for a while with a FMU and I think 7psi and at higher boost/rpm levels the pressure would start to drop off so I switched to a 255lph pump. Better safe than sorry so I would go ahead and swap it out. They can be had for ~$95 new.
I have had internal wastegates on both the turbos I have run in the past. I'm currently working on building up some custom turbo headers and will incorporate an external one at that point.

if u check out my turbo kit for sale everything should basically fit ur car except the upper intank pipe i believe. everything else would fit plus ur have a fmu, boost, fuel psi, air/fuel gauges. almost brand new turbo better and bigger than the original fff kit one. external wastegate, better oil return and oil drain lines than that of the orignal fff kit, better bov, heat shields, pacesetter headers brand new never installed. a almsot fuel exhaust system to the middle of the car but just as loud, unlike the orignal one where is open downpipe and if u have a fuel leak boom there go u and ur car up in flames. or if ur car backfires because its running it and u have a fuel leak. just something to think about.
Went ahead and moved my starter wire from the back, to the front again since it had no effect on my drain on the battery. Also made me nervous driving...
