Do any of you know how i can get more power from my 3.4L block with doing major mods. Reason is because I ran my car against a Honda Accord on the quarter mile and beat him the first time but the second for some reason he beat me. I even left him on take off both times and for some reason he caught up to me the second time and stayed in front by a the nose. Any advice for my 3.4L Camaro I really want my car to be a rice car eater I know the car can do it I just think that it is missing something to give it the advantage.

      Re: Any simple Mods

You ready? These are almost all the bolt ons i can think of.

Intake - Cold Air Intake, Port and Polish Throttle body

Exhaust- Full Catback (including i pipe, muffler, tips)

High Flow Catalytic converter (or gut your current Cat)

      Headers/ Y pipe

      Drive Train-

      Underdrive Pullies (crankshaft and alternator)

Aluminum Driveshaft (replace the steel 2 piece)

      LSD and different gears

      Ignition-

Aftermarket Spark plug wires (msd or taylor)

      Aftermarket Spark plugs (ngk)

MSD coil packs (why not right?)

      Tuning -

If you have a 93 like me your really screwed and you would have to go with the stage 2 jet chip which has mixed reviews (part # 19312s)

I believe if you have a 94 or 95 you can get a mail tune which is much better.

      Miscelanious-

SLP AIT sensor (to advance timing)
B&M shift improver kit (increase shift firmness, or get a true shift kit from transgo)

and then there is always WEIGHT REDUCTION

even with all these bolt ons however, I would not put your car past about 170 rwhp.

I have just about all these mods so let me know if u have Q's about any specific ones, don't mind Smoke Panther he loves to help and not help at the same time.

i might be wrong, the only tunes for the 3.4 might be FAST and Megasquirt.

I can tell you why not: stock coil packs have been proven to be more than adequate for setups far more extreme than what you're telling the OP to build up. The money is better spent elsewhere

thats why i said "why not" because it technically is a bolt on, even though it doesn't help much, i figured i'd add it in.

I'd say the easiest are intake baffle removal, cat-back, and of course taking out random heavy things like the spare/jack. Maybe go on a diet? :D I'm not sure about the 3.4 but headers will probably be the first real performance gain part you get.

dude thats overkill. That requires not only the knowledge to do that sort of modification but also the $ to buy things such as pistons, heads, intake manifolds and not to mention the time/money spent installing all of that.

That is the mother of all N/A modifications imo, something i would love to have done except for the above reasons.

I read all that post and it is informative, but i think I'm gonna go with a Turbo charger setup. I do have a turbo laying around the only thing now is to run oil lines and make the tubing for the turbo. I've seen everyones post on turbo's and how to set them up my only question is where do I put the oil feeding line for the turbo. Either than that I'm pretty know what I have to do for the quest for more power from this engine.
