well then you need to watch this video ..

    http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4826897

wow... I was shocked for overlooking something this simple ... so I went outside and took some pictures of my front and rear tires .... please note that I bought my rear tires on Dec' of 07 and fronts came with the car (I bought my car oct 07)

    FRONT TIRES

    REAR TIRES

upon taking the pictures I found out that my front tires were manufactured 25th week of 2004  ... that's NOT safe!!!! and my rear tires were manufactured 51st week of 2006 ... I gotta start looking up deals for front tires... even though I have more than enough thread, I can't take a chance of blowing the tires while I am passing a 18 wheelers on a high speed highway ...

Please post picture/manf. date of your tire in this thread ....This may save you or your significant others life ... Happy 4th of JULY

Both the right side tires say that. Strange part is the left doesn't have the date code at all...
      RIGHT:

      LEFT:

Maybe they stopped this date code recently?

But as for the part of the video where they say the highway is littered with evidence, those are not from tires getting old. Those are re-treaded semi-truck tires. They are meant to peel off like that when the tread is nearly gone. The truck drivers just keep driving and usually buy more re-treaded tires because they are cheaper.

EDIT: Bought them last summer. (07)

code's probably on the other side of the tires if they're directional. I'll have to check mine once it stops raining :(

Interesting. Could be another Firestone thing.

A little over-dramatized, but interesting. They kept showing tractor trailer tires, and saying there was evidence of this problem every day on the highway. This happens to trailers a lot because they are retreads which is not the same problem they uncovered.
