Shifts forward and backward? Or in and out?

Forward/backward and getting stuck going up is what happened to mine. Vertical track guide broke off. Requires replacing the entire metal bracket that is riveted to the bottom of the glass. Bracket and rivets cost around $35 dealer. Because you need a cam-style rivet gun to do these I had the dealer fix it. I believe they also had to drill out the regulator rivets to remove it and the glass from the door. Cost me $130 for the labor.

If the glass moves in/out instead, check the 2 guides at the top of the door. You just have to remove the plastic door panel to get to them. You simply loosen the bolts and they slide to adjust how much pressure to put on the inside of the glass.

Here's the pic of where the guide wheel broke off mine. It's supposed to ride in that vertical track.

Mine did that. It happened when the wheel that goes in the vertical track rusted and broke. It was a PITA to change out the entire track, but that is what you have to do.

FWIW, this is not a difficult thing to replace, it's just time-consuming.

I read his post, I'm asking for clarification because there's 2 different ways the window could be loose. Side to side looking directly at the door or facing towards the front of the car?

And how did you guys get the new track riveted on? Way I understood it, you needed a cam rivet tool?

My window moves side to side, when I roll down the window, it will shift towards the door a little. Its not the window guides, i've adjusted them. And I really dont think you need a rivet gun to replace the vertical track guide, just use a screw and a nut after you drill the rivet out. see example - http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
